Wight Whereas the Hand of Providence has recently removed from our midst our dearly beloved Brother, William S. Wight, Past Worshipful, whose death we deeply mourn, therefore, be it resolved By the Cairo Lodge No. 299, Free and Accepted Masons, 1. That in the death of Brother Wight each member of this Lodge loses a personal friend, for he was truly the friend of his fellow men, with a fraternity, not existing in name alone, but true and genuine for his every associate. 2. That the Lodge as an institution will greatly miss his counsel and guidance. Having for many years been a leader among us, with a spirit that was noble and pure, exemplifying the beneficent principles of our Order, at all times both in his Masonic work and in his daily life, his place in the Lodge will long be vacant, and his absence will always be noted in sorrow. 3. That the community has given up one of its greatest men. From his youth, he has served the people as dutiful and loyal citizen, privately and in places of trust, ever willingly and with all his might, zealous for the public good and contribution bounteously for the general welfare besides attaining his personal successes by such honorable processes, as to make even his individual enterprises a benefaction to the common interests. 4. His life in all its phases should inspire to higher and better living every one before whom his example was set. Without show or pretense, without subtlety and without slander, with never a word that was unkind, with patience and forbearance, with sacrifice and with charity, with fraternity and affection, he lived a plain, free, noble life, with a mind set open things that were high and worthwhile and with a heart that was both righteousness and that was fit for the Kingdom of God. His fellowship will ever remain as a benediction among us and we will long cherish his memory. This the 10th day of September 1918 E. C. Bell L. B. Powell F. H.
