M. Ferrell, Prominent Farmer, Is Taken At Age Of 73 Many people throughout this section were deeply grieved to learn of the death last Monday of Mr. Jessie M. Ferrell, a prominent Grady county farmer, who passed to his eternal reward at 11 a.m., following an illness of two weeks. Uric acid poisoning was the immediate cause of his death, which occurred at the home of his son, G. M. Ferrell, 6 miles east of Cairo. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Pine Level Baptist Church of which the deceased was a member, with Rev. W. M. Davis of near Meigs, officiating. Interment followed in Pine Level cemetery, with the following as pallbearers: Glynn Harris, Tom Barton, Anthony Ferrell, D. P. Butler, J. E. Barton and Crestial Ferrell. Honorary pallbearers were S. O. Norton, J. C. Faircloth, W. A. Shiver, L. L. Draffin, S. W. Shiver and R. M. Brinson. The deceased was a native of Miller county, Georgia where he was born May 5, 1861, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Ferrell. When just a child he moved to Grady county and for the past seventy years has lived in this county, where he engaged in farming operations and was one of the best known citizens of this entire section. He is survived by four sons, Messrs. G. M. Ferrell of Grady county; J. T. Ferrell of Pelham; H. B. Ferrell and R. L. Ferrell of Birmingham, Ala. all of whom were present for the final rites, which were attended by many friends of the deceased and his family.
