The Cairo Messenger, Friday, May 15, 1942
Mr. Colin Abraham Hand, 60

Final rites were held at Magnolia church and cemetery, this county, at 11 a.m. 
May 7th for Mr. Colin Abraham Hand, 60, a retired railroad man who died at 3:30 
p.m. May 4th, at the home of his son in Sarasota, Fla. with whom he had been 
living.

The last rites were in charge of Rev. N. G. Christopher of Whigham, with five 
of his sons and his only brother as pallbearers.

Mr. Hand was born at Concord, southwest of Cairo, and spent about 45 years of 
his life in what is now Grady county.  He was a member of Providence Baptist 
Church and was a steady, upright man who had many friends.  His wife, the 
former Miss Minnie M. Collins, died in October, 1920.

Immediate survivors include six sons, Heywood Hand, Brooklyn, N.Y., Aubrey 
Hand, Griffin, Judson Hand, Hazel Park, Mich., Paul Hand, Sarasota, Fla. And 
Elmore Hand, Attapulgus, Ga; and a brother, Walter Hand, Whigham.
