Collins, a prominent Grady County citizen and former Representative in the Legislature, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. B. Woolfolk, a few miles southeast of Cairo, at 2:15 p.m. last Monday, Jan. 31st, following about five years of failing health. Her long life was one of much usefulness to many people and her passing brought sorrow to many hearts. The funeral service was held at the chapel of the South Georgia Funeral Home here at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and burial followed in the Baggett Cemetery near Cairo. Rev. W. M. Davis, of near Meigs, and South Georgia Funeral Home, were in charge. The following served as pallbearers: Rev. R. A. Bowen, Floyd Childs, Audrey Gandy, John Hinson, Arthur Harrell and Wh Muggridge. Mrs. Collins was born Miss Sabelia Mercer, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Mercer, in Dooly County, Ga., Feb. 22nd, 1857. She moved to this county about 65 years ago and most of that time she lived at the old Collins homestead about four miles southeast of Cairo. Of the Baptist faith, she bore the vicissitudes of life with a calmness and kindly spirit that commended her to all who were privileged to know her. Her husband preceded her in death on July 1st, 1935. Immediate survivors include one son, H. Grady Collins, Miami; two daughters, Mrs. Ira D.
