Hurst Died Last Sunday Chancey D. Hurst, one of Grady County's well known and highly esteemed young men, passed away at the home of his father, Mr. R. Y. Hurst, three miles east of town, last Sunday evening about eight o'clock. Chancey, as he was known by his numerous friends and acquaintances, had been a sufferer of tuberculosis for the past several years and everything possible was done to save this young man's life, but without avail. During the past three months he has gradually grown worse and the end peacefully came last Sunday evening just as it was growing dark. Mr. Hurst was 27 years of age in July last year and was a member of the Methodist church. He was also a member of the local lodge of Odd Fellows, besides being a member of the W. O. W. The funeral services were held at Pearce Chapel cemetery, five miles east of town last Monday afternoon at five o'clock. Rev. Walter C. Jones conducted the last sad rites. He is survived by his father, Mr. R. Y. Hurst, five sisters, besides numerous relatives and friends. The Messenger extends condolence to the bereaved ones in their sad hour of affliction.
