Gray, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Gray, as a result of a pistol wound accidentally self-inflicted at a late hour last Saturday night. Gray was talking to Edwin Hurst in front of the Central Drug Company about 11:30 o'clock Saturday night and in a friendly vein over something that was said, they attempted to grab each other in a friendly tussle, when they both slipped on the wet tiling. In the fall, a pistol in an inside pocket of Gray was discharged, a bullet entering his body nearly under his right arm. He immediately arose and walked to one side in an effort to remove his coat. For several moments, he was apparently not seriously hurt and he removed the pistol from his pocket. Handed it to a party standing nearby and told them to keep it. However, he soon began to feel weak and it was decided best to carry him to where medical attention could be secured. He was placed in a car and carried by Hurst to Walker's Sanitarium and medical attention secured. After he reached the sanitarium it was found that his wound was serious and he gradually grew weaker until his death at three o'clock Sunday afternoon. The two boys were great friends and the conversation just before the accident was purely amicable. It is said they had planned a trip to some ------ Gray was employed by Cairo Motor Company and Hurst is employed by Grady Pharmacy. Hurst, it is said, deeply regrets the occurrence. There were some eye witnesses to the whole affair. Gray was twenty one years of age and was a member of the Methodist Church. The funeral services were held at the Tired Creek church at four o'clock Monday afternoon. The services were conducted by Dr. J. A. Wynne. The funeral was attended by all of the close relatives of the deceased, besides numerous friends.
