Jones Passes Away On Saturday night, June 7th, the death angel called for him and he answered the summons and was hidden to come up higher. He was born August 2, 1849; died June 7th, 1919, 70 years of age next birthday. He was married to Miss Kate McNair in November 1882; six children were born unto them, one son and five daughters; two daughters having passed on before, one in infancy and Mrs. C. P. Maxwell in 1911. He was a charter member of Calvary Baptist church; deacon of the church for a number of years. Born, reared and reared his family on the same farm. He leaves a wife, one son, E. P. Jones, of Grady county, three daughters, Mrs. R. L. Sellers, Mrs. J. Tyler Maxwell, of Grady and Mrs. E. J. Smith of Quincy, Florida; two brothers, N. F. and S. D. Jones of Whigham; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Butler of Reno. Funeral services were conducted at the home on Sunday afternoon by his pastor Rev. N. G. Christopher and the body was laid to rest in the Cedar Grove Cemetery near Climax. Many kind and gracious things might be said about him. His home was one where peace and joy and love abounded. He was a man who provided well for his family. He was a man who stood well in his community and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. For a number of years, he was affected with partial blindness and for many years he suffered with palsy, but through it all he was patient and kind. He was a man who loved his Lord and loved the church. He leaves an influence in the world for good that will bless many hearts. He has gone to be with his Lord forever.
