Surely our departed Sovereign needed rest for she had suffered long. Miss Hattie united with this Grove in March 1918, and our Grove was honored to have her name enrolled among its members. She was a consistent church member of Pearce Chapel. She was a dutiful daughter, an affectionate sister, a devoted friend, and untiring nurse, giving her best to all whom she ministered. Not only Miss Hattie's family but the entire community has suffered a great loss, but in our loss we can measure her gain. The highest praise we can offer to our departed Beloved Sovereign is our conception of her merits, our affectionate gratitude for her labors and service. Her memory is safe forevermore, for so long shall we cherish in fondest recollection the name of Hattie Rawls. Wherefore be it Resolved: That a copy of this tribute to her memory be entered upon the minutes of our Grove, that future generations may rise and call her blessed, and that we shall ever keep her example before us and following in her footsteps so live that we can say: There is no death. What seems so is transition. This life of mortal breath is but the suburb of Life's Elysian, whose portal we call death but which is the gateway to Paradise. July 26th, Rosebud Grove 139, Cairo, Ga.
