P. Wight. The family with Mr. F. T. Brown's family and a few children friends were taking a day's outing at the river bridge. After dinner the children were playing in the shallow water along the sand bar, it seems, and Mr. Wight had just left them for a few moments, when Ethel, and her little cousin, Lolia Wight, got beyond their depth. Screams of the other children brought assistance in time to rescue Lolia but, in the meantime, Alden, heroic brother, seeing his sister about to go down, declared he must save her or drown in the attempt. The water in which they sank was quite deep, and before they could be found life was extinct. The entire town bows in sympathy with the bereaved ones. Winsome children both, and their going leaves their home inexpressibly sad. May he who wept at the grave of Lazarus, be the stay in this hour of bitter trial.
