The Cairo Messenger, February 7, 1986
Miss Gertrude Gilliard, 60, of Cairo passed away in the Talmadge Memorial 
Hospital on Sunday, February 2, 1986.

Funeral services for Miss Gilliard were held on Tuesday, February 4, 1986 at 3 
p.m. in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cairo with the Rev. Ralph Harrell 
and Rev. Mack Luke officiating.  Interment followed in the Union Hill Cemetery.

Frank Pearce, Tommy Connell, Randell Pearce, Douglas Pearce, Bill Pearce, Steve 
Anderson and Caylor Ouzts served as active pallbearers.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of Pleasant Grove Baptist 
Church.

Miss Gilliard was born in Grady County on August 2, 1925 to the late John 
Andrew and Jessie Sadler Gilliard.  She was a lifetime resident of Grady 
County, a homemaker, and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include 1 uncle, S. L. Gilliard; 1 brother, John A. Gilliard, both of 
Cairo; 3 sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Pearce, Sylvester, Ga., Mrs. Joy Lindsey and 
Mrs. Lorene Glover, both of Cairo; 3 cousins, Winfred Hurst, Betty Ouzts and 
Larry Gilliard, all of Cairo.

Clark Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
