Chason Burns To Death Mr. Herbert Chason, a prosperous young farmer in this county, residing a few miles west of Ochlocknee, came to a horrible death last Tuesday. Coming to Cairo on Monday previous, and thinking that he would probably be late returning that night, he advised his wife that she and the little child should go to a neighbor's home to spend the night, which they did. Returning late Monday night, Mr. Chason built a large fire as it was rather cool, and this had not burned down when he retired. Several hours later he awoke to find his house on fire and the flames had even reached the bed on which he was resting. He undertook to escape but being upstairs, he found it impossible to pass out without sustaining serious burns, from which he died about 9 o'clock the following morning. He has a great many relatives together with friends throughout the county, who will receive the news of his death sadly.
