Mr. Sim Mills, who lives several miles south of the city, was putting up a wire fence. He and another man were stretching a strand of wire when the beam to which the wire was fastened gave way, the beam striking Mr. Mills a terrific blow on the side of the head. The wounded man was rendered unconscious by the blow and lingered until Saturday night, when he died. The deceased was a son of Mr. Tom Mills, and until recently was a conductor on the Coast Line Railroad. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Memory Simeon C. Mills Again has the Supreme Architect of the universe manifested His matchless power and taken from earth on swiftest wings of time, our beloved brother, Simeon C. Mills. The tyler who guards the outer door was not able to guard from our Brother his last enemy, death. Our exalted ruler did not send him a ten days' summons but demanded his immediate presence in that undiscovered, borne from whence no traveler returns. The very suddenness of this call sends sadness and gloom not only among the craft but to all his many friends and loved ones. Bro. Mills had been a faithful member of our Lodge for about ten years and while his duties as a railroad conductor did not admit of his regular attendance at our communications, yet he ever showed a willingness to obey its laws and extend the mantel of fraternal charity to all of whom he found deserving his help. No departed Brother has ever cast a more sorrowful glood over our brethren than the sudden departure of this young craftsman. Therefore, Be it Resolved; 1st -- That we, though sorrowful and sad, bow in humble submission to the infinite wisdom of our all-wise Father knowing that He doeth all things well. 2nd -- That we extend a hand and heart of sympathy to his loved ones and say to them weep not for Sim, he has just crossed over the river and is resting under the shade of a tree. 3rd -- That in his death there is left a vacant chair in our Hall, and in token of that, in our record we leave a page dedicated to his loving memory. Be it further resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be spread upon our minutes a copy presented by the secretary to the afflicted family, and that a copy be furnished the Bainbridge Search Light, Grady County Times and Cairo Messenger. Respectfully submitted, J. M. Robison, J. E. Cobb, M. M. McCord, Committee Whigham Lodge No. 356 F. & A. M., Whigham, Ga., January 17, 1906 Additional Comments: Simeon C.
