In Memory of Mrs. D. L. Williams
We, the members of the Young People's Missionary Society of the Cairo Methodist 
Church have lately been called of God to suffer a great sorrow in the death of 
Mrs. D. L. Williams.  We desire in some measure to express our own personal 
grief, and to offer our sincerest sympathy to those she has left bereaved.

With spirits bowed under the weight of crushing sorrow, we can not understand 
why God should ask this of us.  Why so pure a life, so lovely a character in 
the very beginning of its glorious mission should be cut off from the lives of 
whom she was the inspiration and the joy are things too hard for us, who have 
only a yet narrow vision of the Father's love.

From the depths of our torn and bruised spirits now we can only sob.  "Thy 
will, be done," knowing that He is our Father still and that some day, when the 
tale of the years is told, when through the ministry of suffering we have 
learned what is the height and depth and length and breadth of Infinite Love, 
the secret of God shall be with us and out of a soul knowledge of the Eternal 
we shall be able to say, "Even for this also, oh my Father I thank Thee, for 
Thou doeth all things well."

We thank God for the power of this Christian example.  In the short time that 
its precious influence hallowed our lives, it even pointed us upward and we 
caught a vision of the fullness of the stature that God would have us reach.

We pray that He who came "to comfort all that mourn" will write upon our 
crushed and bleeding hearts, His perfect law of Love.
