Cairo Messenger, January 31, 1908
"Newsy Notes From Whigham"
Mr. West Smith died at his home in Calvary District Sunday morning last, after 
several weeks confinement to his bed with rheumatism.  His death was a shock to 
many friends.  He leaves a devoted wife, several children and grand children, 
besides brothers and sisters, and many friends, to mourn his death.  Our 
sympathy goes out to the grieved ones.
