He left his room last Monday at 4:30 to go to feed his horses, as he was accustomed to doing, and also put a fire in the stove. Not returning for breakfast his wife became uneasy and began looking for him. The neighbors and brothers of the deceased kept up the search till late Saturday afternoon when they tracked him to an old well on a plantation he once owned. They found his hat near the well and found his head down in the water which was several feet deep, with both hands in his pants pockets. No inquest was held as it was seen by his tracks that no one else could be implicated in the sad affair and it was a self suicide caused from a mental derangement. Mr. Maxwell was about 65 years of age and leaves a devoted wife, two sisters and three brothers to mourn his death, besides numerous friends and relatives. Interment Sunday afternoon at Spring Hill.
