W. Brinson, died at his father's residence in this town, last Friday, just before noon. His physicians had done all for him that could be done, with no apparent effect but to palliate. The disease which carried him off belongs to a practically incurable class. The death of this noble young man was particularly sad. He had opened up a prosperous and promising mercantile business in Havana, Fla., and until stricken with the fatal malady that cut short his bright young life, the way to speedy affluence seemed open before him. Every member of his family was devoted to him, and the number of his friends was legion. Because of the difficulty that would have attended the carrying of the casket up and down the high stairway of the city hall, where the Baptist meetings are temporarily being held, the funeral exercises were conducted at the Methodist church. The congregation was large, augmented by the local lodge Knights of Pythias, and the services were exceedingly solemn and impressive. Dr. R. H. Harris officiated, assisted by Rev. N. T. Pafford, and the songs were rendered by a male quartet, composed of Messrs. R. C. Bell, G. A. Wight, A. C. Forester and W. A. Sutton, with Miss Lena Mauldin at the organ. The Knights of Pythias performed their ritualistic service, in a very impressive manner, at the grave; after which Dr. Harris closed with the burial formula and benediction.
