Mr. Curry, who lives about five miles north of Cairo, came to the city last Saturday morning, and having business in Thomasville he left on the 1:58 train, returning on the night train which arrives in Cairo at about 2 o'clock a.m. Mr. Curry had left his team at Mr. E. E. Prince's stable, and rather that disturb him at that hour, he decided to remain at the depot until about 4 o'clock a.m. Sunday morning. At that hour he left the depot, remarking that he would get his team and go home. He left for the stable, going down the railroad, and when near the crossing leading from the railroad to the stable, the through freight going east, came along and ran into him, killing him instantly. Some time later the body was carried to the depot about one hundred yards distant, where an inquest was held. The following is the verdict of the Coroner's jury: "We the jury sworn and empaneled to inquire into the cause of the death of Jerome Curry, now dead, find that he came to his death by being struck by engine drawing extra freight train number 212, east bound and that said train passed the depot at Cairo about 4:25 a.m., September the 6th, 1908 and said train was running at full speed and gave no crossing signal, and that same occurred about 100 yards east of depot at Cairo, Ga.
