A. Hurst had passed away at Milledgeville in the state sanitarium. He was buried there yesterday and his relatives in this city notified of this act. Known as Gus Hurst and one of the best sheriffs that Thomas county ever had, he was a man who was possibly better known than any other officer in this section of the state. His record is one that smacks of extreme daring and fearlessness. He served this county in that position for many years. During the past few years of his life he was a wanderer on the face of the earth making frequent pilgrimages to various sections of South Georgia and always on foot. A year or more ago he was adjudged insane and sent to the state asylum from this county. Since that time and a few months prior he was in miserable health and death came possible as a great relief. He was reported dead several times and a man positively identified as he near Albany about fifteen months ago. He however turned up in Thomasville the next week as well and hearty as ever, and laughed heartily at the report of his death.
