On this day the children and grand children of Mr. J. P. Anderson, an old Vet, met with him to celebrate his 89th birthday. The day was spent in pleasure and thankfulness for the father reaching this great age, and while the family was thus grouped together for the Photographer engaged for the occasion, a photograph was taken as a keep sake and to look upon in the future and enjoy fond recollection of this memorable occasion. Alas, little did any of those present think that this day was to be the last but such was only too true for at twelve o'clock that night Mr. Anderson answered the last roll call and the spirit, released from its earthly tabernacle, winged its flight to join his comrades who had fought the battle and won the fight. To the family of the deceased the Messenger joins numerous friends in extending condolence, knowing full well, that after labor comes rest, and may He who has taken, bind their bleeding hearts and comfort them as He only can.
