She lay as if asleep until she passed over the river of death. We all know "Aunt Brina." Many a sick person has she nursed, and a better nurse was hard to find. She was well cared for, being surrounded by her children and friends. She leaves three children to mourn her death, three sisters, one brother and a host of friends, and all will miss her more than tongue can tell. Aunt Brina never acted the hypocrite. If she didn't like you, she would let you know it, and if she liked you, she always had a kind word for you in your presence or absence. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist church for many years. How still and peaceful is the grace, When days of grief are past! The silent solitary house, Receives us all at last. The wicked there from troubling cease, Their passions rage no more; And there the weary pilgrim rests From all the toils he bore. There servants, masters, small and great, Partake the same repose, And there in peace the ashes mix Of those that once were foes. All leveled by the hand of death Lie sleeping in the tomb -- 'Till God in judgement call them forth To meet their final doom.
