After a weary struggle of twenty-five days, her devout spirit went away to be with God, last Sunday morning at eleven o'clock. Typhoid fever, of a severe type, was the disease that carried her off A distressingly circumstance connected with the case is found in the fact that her daughter, Martha, is very low with the same disease. The funeral occurred last Monday at the Pearce Chapel burial ground, conducted by Rev. J. P. Swann of Long Branch church, of which Mrs. Howze was a member. Revs. George Hurst, W. C. Jones, and W. E. Towson were also present and assisted in the funeral services. A large attendance of about two hundred sympathizing friends were in attendance and many were moved to tears as the story of her faithful devotion at home so ill that God might raise her up to health. Mrs. Howze was a very good woman,--faithful in every department of her life, serving God and serving her family and especially her neighbors, she wrought well, and large will be her reward in the other world.
