The subject of this article, to- wit: J. M. Robison was born January 2nd, 1830, and departed this life October 6, 1910. At the ripe age of eighty years, nine months and four days. Bro. Robison united with the Episcopal Church early in life and lived a consistent member of it until his death. Few men indeed rendered such valuable service, he being apparently born for a leader. From the earliest of the writer's recollection, he stood in the front ranks battling for the cause of the Master. Leading the children as Sabbath School Superintendent and teacher was one of his delightful themes, always in place, with his cheerful and charitable spirit, pointing them to higher and nobler purposes in this life and Eternal life in the world to come. As a Bible scholar, he had few equals, the writer having often sit at his feet for counsel. As a member of the church which he so much loved, he was extremely faithful and loyal to all of its demands. As a father, he was always thoughtful, kind and tender, possessing that paternal power which few fathers have--that of controlling his children by love--making his home so lovely that his children were all endeared to it; so much so, that of the five sons and five daughters whom he reared in that home, there were nine of them all grown in that home at one time. Bro. Robison had a special talent for music, and as the writer often sat and listened to the singing of him and his family, it formed in his mind a model home of love. Bro. Robison in his departure, did not leave his millions; but he left that which is far better than gold, a good name, and an influence of righteousness that will follow him to the Pearly Gates of Eternal Glory; and he and those lovely children and the writer who has so often been helped in his soul, will one day sing again around the Great White Throne of God. Not only so, but numbers will be led to accept Christ as their Saviour, and some sweet day we will all sing his praise in Glory. May his exemplary life and upright walk with God, lead those five boys and five girls who are left to mourn his loss, to higher heights and deeper depths of usefulness than even father attained, remembering that father is not dead, but that he has only been transplanted in the Glory World where he has joined his faithful and affectionate wife, who departed this life Sept. 2nd, 1900. Then let me say to the loved ones who are bereft of father and mother, that Uncle John and Aunt Della still live in the minds of the people, and their influence is still felt for good. Then weep not for those who are so happy. One who loved them. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 3.4 Kb
