A. Peebles, mother of our townsman, Mr. J. L. Peebles. Mrs. Peebles was 83 years old, was a consistent member of the Baptist church, was a lady beloved by all, on account of her perfect Christian character and her many graces of heart and head. She was a lady of the old southern school. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Peebles has made her home with her son Mr. J. L. Peebles. She was the mother of seven children, only three surviving her, Messrs. J. L. Peebles of Whigham, W. G. Peebles, of Atlanta, Mrs. T. K. Cunningham, of Jacksonville, and several grandchildren and great grand children who mourn her death. The funeral services were held Monday at 11:30 at the Baptist church, by Rev. N. G. Christopher. The pall bearers were Judge T. J. Miller, A. Harrell, Ab Logue, D. C. Haire, Oscar Harrell, H. K. Clark. Interment in Whigham cemetery.
