F. Richter, Dead A great and good man has passed to his reward. This will be sad news to a host of friends and relatives of the deceased, who are scattered throughout Thomas, Mitchell and Grady counties. The deceased was in his 90th year at his demise. He was one of the earliest pioneer settlers of Thomas county, and lived near what is now known as Ochlocknee. Later he moved to Cairo when it was only a straggling village, and lived here until his death, which occurred last Saturday. He was beloved by all who knew him and was affectionately called "Uncle Ed" by all his friends. He was a prominent Mason and was buried with Masonic honors at Long Branch Sunday February 18.
