Hammett, of this county, who died in overseas service with the American Forces, was buried in the Arlington National Cemetery on last Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. This is the first of the Grady County soldiers who died while serving in the colors, to be brought back and buried in this country. Private Hammett was among eight other Georgians who were buried Monday. A total of five officers and sixty one enlisted men were buried Monday. The other Georgians were: Second Lieut. Ryan M. Williamson, Fifty fourth Infantry Brigade, Veterinary Corps., Plains; Private Oliver O. Cleveland, Jr., Coast Artillery Culloden; Private Leon C. Hammett, Cairo; Private George D. Hersey, Coast Artillery, Nichols; Private John F. Moore, Coast Artillery, Adel; Private William L. Hicks, Coast Artillery, Moultrie; William C. Zeigler, Second Engineers, Sparks; and Private Solomon Jackson, 546 Engineers, Faceville.
