B. Jones Passes To Great Beyond The many relatives and friends of Mrs. W. B. Jones will be grieved to learn of her death which occurred last Saturday afternoon at her home about two miles southwest of town after a quiet and useful life of nearly seventy years. Mrs. Jones was born January 25, 1851. She had been in ill health from August of last year, having been stricken with severe liver and kidney troubles and had made a brave fight for recovery, but the malady proved too strong for her extended years and after her ten months illness the Lord called her to the Great Beyond. Mrs. Jones, before her marriage, was Miss Zelphie Ann Civiler Melloy, daughter of S. E. Melloy, a resident of this section. She and her husband, Mr. W. B. Jones, who survives her, were married December 17th, 1873, and to this union was born nine children, five of whom survive her. They are P. A. and T. E. Jones, of Cairo; W. B. Jones, Jr., of Philadelphia, Pa.; Mrs. Rennie Gray, of Pensacola, Fla.; and Mrs. Mary Shores of Cottondale, Fla. Mrs. Jones is also survived by two brothers and two sisters: E. N. Melloy of Mitchell County and L. N. Melloy of Climax and Mrs. Catherine Sutton, who resides near Akridge in this county and Mrs. Lula Melloy of Ochlocknee, besides a number of grand children and numerous relatives and friends to mourn her sad departure. Thirty seven years ago she was baptised into the Primitive Baptist faith by Elder Wm. Hollingsworth at Tired Creek Church and her life since that time has been one of faithfulness to her church and her God. The last sad rites were conducted at the family burying ground on the Godwin place, last Sunday, the services being conducted by Elder Wm. Hollingsworth, her pastor, who received her into the church many years ago. A large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends were present to pay their last respects to the memory of this good woman. The Messenger joins the many friends of the family in extending condolence to the bereaved ones.
