H. Lott Commits Suicide Mr. W. H. Lott, a Grady County farmer residing about eight miles northeast of town, committed suicide at his home about one o'clock Thursday afternoon, by shooting himself with a double barrel breech-loading shot gun. The shooting was witnessed by his 18 year old son, who attempted to stop his father from carrying out his threat. The son stated that Mr. Lott placed the gun to his breast, turning the stock a little to the right in order that he could reach the trigger and before he could be stopped, carried out his threat. The load lodged in the left side of his back. Before committing the deed, he stated to his son with an epithet that he was going to kill himself, the boy pleading with him not to do so. The son grabbed for the gun, but was too late, as the father had already carried out the threat. It is said that the old man, who was about 65 years of age, had been dissipating for the past week and was very despondent, which is the cause generally believed for his rash act. He was a widower, his wife died four years ago, and he and his four small children were keeping house together. He is survived by eight children. The funeral services are to be held today.
