B. McElvy Held in Whigham Friday The many friends throughout the county of Mr. Gordon B. McElvy, of Whigham, will regret to learn of his death which occurred at his home, in Whigham last Friday morning, Sept. 12th. Mr. McElvy had been in declining health for the past several years, having been a sufferer from stomach trouble. He had been confined to his home for several months. Mr. McElvy had visited different sanitariums throughout the country in search of some successful treatment for his ailments, but without avail. Mr. McElvy was 46 years of age, and was a consistent member of the Whigham Baptist Church. The funeral services were held at the Whigham Baptist church last Friday afternoon at five o'clock, being conducted by Rev. J. G. Christian of the Cairo Methodist church, and were attended by a large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends. Interment followed int he cemetery at that place. The deceased is survived by his wife and one son, besides numerous relatives and friends who have the sympathy of the entire county in their loss.
