The boy, with his brother and another small boy, one fourteen and the other ten years old, went in bathing in the river, above the spring. They went to the spring, but having no bathing suits, they went above the bridge, where the water was much deeper, and the little fellow got into water much over his head, said to be nearly eighteen feet deep. When the other boys saw that he was drowning, they took their clothes and ran to the house to tell the father of the child. The delay in getting home made it some time before the news was known at the springs, where a number were bathing. The child's father returned and with the aid of the bathers, the body of the boy was found about an hour later. Dr. Schreiber, Thomas County Health Officer, was on the scene, but efforts to resuscitate the child were unavailing. The funeral services were conducted on Monday. The family have a number of friends through this section, who have learned of the news with deep sorrow.
