Funeral services were held at Pine Level Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 4, 1978 with Rev. Freeman Allen officiating, interment in the Pine Level Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Grady Maxwell, Jerry Dollar, Turner Harrison, Andrew Harrison, J. V. Whigham and Carlton Logue. Mr. Griner was born on January 1, 1914 in Grady County to the late Ella Logue and Henry Griner and on December 15, 1933 he married Ida Oliver in Grady County, Georgia. Mr. Griner returned to Cairo three years ago coming from Albany and he was a retired Plant Contractor. Mr. Griner was a member of the Highland Park Methodist Church in Panama City, Florida. His survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ida Oliver Griner of Cairo; two sons, Bobby J. Griner, Havana and William A. Griner, Cairo; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Yarbor, Panama City, Mrs. Cathy Tyndal, Cairo; two brothers, Roy Griner, Cairo and Abb W. Griner, Stuart, Florida; eight grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Miller Funeral Home of Cairo was in charge of arrangements.
