Funeral services were held at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 1978 at the Magnolia Baptist Church with Rev. Roy K. Thomas and Rev. Lee Long officiating, interment was in the Magnolia Cemetery. Active pallbearers were nephews of Mr. Collins, namely: Emory Harrison, Ted Collins, Earl Collins, Douglas Johnson, Donald Johnson and Leslie Connell. Mr. Collins was born in Grady County, Georgia on June 28, 1928 to Lula Frances Sasser and the late Jesse James (Jim) Collins. He spent his entire lifetime in this county and was a farmer. Survivors include: One daughter: Mrs. Becky Myrick of Whigham; One grandson: Andrew Joseph Myrick, Jr. of Whigham; Mother: Mrs. Lula S. Collins of Whigham; Four sisters: Mrs. Eugene (Ercell) Harrison of Whigham, Mrs. Merle Moore of Columbus, Georgia, Mrs. R. L. (Inez) Moss of Atlanta and Mrs. James B. (Amy) Prince of Cairo. Two brothers: Fred Collins of Whigham and H. E. Collins of Atlanta, Georgia.
