Harrell, 77, a beloved resident of Cairo, passed away Wednesday at Archbold Hospital after an illness of several weeks with a cardiac ailment. Treated at Grady General Hospital for several weeks, her condition showed substantial improvement, but she then suffered a relapse. Her passing brought sorrow to a large family connection and many friends. She was born in Thomasville June 5, 1902, the daughter of the late Green Berry and Rosa Fulford Godwin but spent most of her life here, where she was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and its Sunday School. She was married to Melvin G. Harrell on May 15, 1921, and he died on Dec. 27, 1970. Her father served as a rural mail carrier here. Final rites are scheduled Friday, June 29, at 3 p.m. at Clark Funeral Home Chapel here and interment by Clark Funeral Home will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Her pastor, Rev. Charles Culbreth, will officiate. Her survivors include two sons: Hopson H. Harrell, Denton, Texas; and Spence M. Harrell, Lakeland, Ga.; five grandchildren, Mickey Harrell, Lakeland, and Mary Alice, Wendy, David and Steven Harrell, all of Mobile, the children of the late Tommy Harrell, who was killed in a plane crash a few years ago; two brothers: Edwin Godwin, Tavares, Fla.; and W. R. Godwin, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and four sisters: Audrey Godwin, Evelyn Mitchell, and Edna Parramore, all of Thomasville; and Oreva Ingram, Pelham.
