She had been ill less than a week previous to her death, influenza, followed by pneumonia, being the fatal diseases. Before her marriage, she was Miss Erma Merritt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Merritt. She was born and reared about nine miles north of Cairo. In June, 1920, she was married to Mr. R. L. Forester, Jr. To this union have been born three children, two boys and one girl, two of whom survive. In girlhood she gave her heart to God and joined the Methodist Church. She always lived true to God, and her life was such that it carried a good influence with it in the home and community. The emphasis of her life was thrown upon the gentle living of the Christian virtues, and was far removed from superficialities. During the last few weeks she has done a great deal of work in leading others into the Sunday School and church. She was much devoted to her family. The funeral was held from the residence on Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. Her pastor, Rev. C. A. Jackson, was in charge of the service. He was assisted by Rev. J. P. Swann, who was her teacher for five years. She was laid to rest in the Cairo cemetery. She leaves her husband, one daughter, 8 years old, one son, 5 years old, her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Merritt, of Cairo, four brothers, Byron and Walter Merritt, of Cairo, William Merritt, of Beaumont, Texas, Kedar Merritt, of Ozark, Ala; and four sisters, Mrs. Fred Tuggle and Mrs. Oscar Norton of Cairo, Mrs. W. W. Stanaland, of Sanford, Fla. and Mrs. Robert Ferrell of Birmingham, Ala. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.3 Kb
