Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3rd at Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Beasley and Rev. J. D. Templeton officiating. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were James Kelly, Max Kelly, Dennis Darus, Willard Cassels, David Bethel and Wayne Fincher. Born in Cairo on December 11, 1902 to the late Tom and Carrie Collins Cassels, he married the former Maggie Darus on February 11, 1923. She preceded him in death on November 21, 1986. A lifetime resident of Grady County, he was a retired mechanic and a member of Centennial United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Elwood Cassels, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; a daughter, Mabel Bethel, Orlando, Florida; a sister, Beatrice Singletary, Cairo; seven grandchildren, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
