W.) passed away Saturday, April 11, 1981, at the Memorial Manor Nursing Home in Bainbridge, Ga. after an extended illness. Funeral services for Mr. Prevatte were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 13, 1981, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Cairo with Rev. Ed Harrell officiating. Interment followed at the Springhill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Whigham with Masonic Rites. Mr. Prevatte was born in Whigham, Ga. Sept. 17, 1900 to the late David Ward Prevatte, Sr. and Sallie Clark Prevatte. His wife, the former Mary Matthews, preceded him in death in 1965. Mr. Prevatte had previously worked with Tampa Electric Company in Winter Haven, Fla. He then moved back to Whigham in 1965 to make his home with his niece and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Mobley, for his retiring years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winter Haven, Fla. and Winter Haven Masonic Lodge #186 F&AM and was a Shriner. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Maxwell of Hialeah, Fla. and Mrs. Ellie Hall of Climax, Ga.; several step children; other survivors are nieces and nephews including Mrs. Charlie Mobley of Whigham.
