Her funeral was conducted Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Whigham Methodist Church. She was one of the six founders of this church and the only surviving member of the group. Her life had been dedicated to her church and she was always active and interested in every movement for the betterment of the community in which she lived. All business was suspended during the funeral hour. Rev. H. G. Shearhouse, her pastor, was in charge of the funeral and he was assisted by Rev. O. B. Chester, of Blakely, a life-long friend of the family, and the Rev. N. G. Christopher, pastor of the Whigham Baptist Church. Mrs. Mills was the daughter of Jasper Massey and Susan Moore, of the sturdy American stock of pioneer days who moved to Florida from North Carolina and it was in Monticello that she was born December 19, 1842. On May 12, 1864, she was married to William J. Mills and they moved to Whigham in December, 1867, where Mrs. Mills had lived continuously until the day of her death. John B. Mills, the second son of this union, was the first child born in Whigham. Her devoted husband passed to the great beyond in 1875 and through the long years of widowhood, with six children, she dedicated her best energies and efforts to establishing the home with high standards of moral and Christian achievement. The last four years of here life were spent as an invalid, but they were characterized by patience and a continued interest in her friends who during this period have paid eloquent tribute to her in many ways. Her life left a lasting imprint upon the people of Whigham and it was marked by her extreme devotion to her family and friends. Her long and useful life was crowned with success, both spiritual and material. She made friends easily and quickly and held them fast through the years. Her death, while expected, came with a distinct sense of loss and sorrow to all whose lives came in contact with her own. She is survived by the following children: T. J. Mills and Mrs. J. E. Cobb, of Whigham; and J. B. Mills, Mrs. C. M. Lewis, and Mrs. J. B. Lewis, all of Jacksonville, Florida. Until the death of her daughter, Mrs. G. H.
