L. (Gussie) Long, 76, died at her home three miles north of Cairo at 1 o’clock Monday morning, March 24th, after an illness of seventeen months. The funeral was held at Bold Springs Church Wednesday afternoon at 3 o’clock with Rev. G. W. Bates, her pastor, in charge. Interment was in the Bold Springs cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Messrs. Walter Castleberry, Mitch Meadows, Lewis Albritton, Herschel Watson, Vernon Meadows and Graham Wade. Mrs. Long was born in Grady County on August 15, 1870, and spent her entire life in this county. In 1892 she was married to Mr. R. L. Long who survives her. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. W. M. Albritton and Mrs. J. R. Ballard, Cairo; and Mrs. C. C. Hooks, Miami; two sons, Mr. L. B. Long, Fort Myers, FL, and Mr. H. W. Long, Miami and sixteen grandchildren. South Georgia Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
