Ragans Goes To His Reward Mr. Alfred L. Ragans, one of Grady's oldest and most highly respected citizens is no more. This good gentleman passed to the great beyond, Wednesday afternoon, about three o'clock at the home of his son, Mr. W. P. Ragans, eight miles north of town, after an illness of two months or more. Heart trouble was the direct cause of his demise. Mr. Ragans was a veteran of the war between the states and was in his 89th year. He was well liked by everyone who knew him and was known as an upright Christian gentleman, being a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist church. He had been a member of the church since early in life. The deceased is survived by his devoted wife, three sons, Messrs. Wade, Andrew, and Jack Ragans, one brother, Mr. J. J. Ragans, all of this county and one sister, Mrs. Janie Collins of West Florida, besides numerous relatives and friends. The remains were laid to rest at Pleasant Grove cemetery yesterday afternoon at three o'clock, the funeral being conducted at the church by Rev. J. P. Swann, and attended by a large concourse of sorrowing relatives and friends. The Messenger extends condolence to the bereaved ones.
