She was born on September 27, 1942, in Kirkland to the late Harry and Bertha Douglas Wells. On December 24, 1960, she married James E. Tomberlin of Cairo. For many years she worked as the Fellowship Hall Hostess at the Cairo First Baptist Church where she was a church member. Survivors include her husband, James E. Tomberlin of Cairo; her daughters, Constance Fulp (Kevin) of Green Cove Springs, FL and Lynn Johnson (Donald) of Cairo; son, Eddie Tomberlin of Cairo; grandchildren, Chris Wilkerson of Gaffney, SC, Jonathan Simcox of Green Cove Springs, Kala Bennett (Matt) of Adel, Trey Tomberlin (Quinn) of Thomasville, Cetoria Tomberlin of Rome, Kylie Harris of Cairo, Emily Johnson of Cairo; great-grandchildren, Brian Page, Troy Wilkerson, Alexis Wilkerson, Caleb Wilkerson, Emmie Lou Bennett, Miller Bennett, Ethan Fulp; sisters, Rebecca Lenge of Brunswick, Wanda May (Johnny) of Pelham, Linda Garner (Doyle) of Pearson; brother, Fred Wells of Pearson; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Wells, Lavonne Wells; and a sister, Shirley Garner. Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 8 at the Chapel of Clark Funeral Home in Cairo with Rev. Robert Crapps officiating. Interment was in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cairo. Active pallbearers were Nathaniel Smith, John Smith, James Tomberlin, III, Jonathan Simcox, Kevin Fulp, Donald Johnson, Brandon Gabenski, Brian Tomberlin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mrs. Tomberlin’s memory to: Gordon Heights Baptist Church, 1351 5th Street SE, Cairo, GA 39828. Clark Funeral Home of Cairo was in charge of arrangements.
