Otis Chappell Adkins was born May 11th, 1861
William Irwin McLain was born June 29th 1899
Arthur Stewart McLain was born July 13, 1873
Sarah Margaret McLain was born August 25th, 1875
Jared I. McLain was born June 9th, 1840
Mrs Maggie J McLain was born March 23, 1850"



Additional Comments:

The foregoing listing is on the "Certificate of Holy Matrimony" and "Births" 
pages of an extremely tatered Bible. The New Testament has been literally torn 
out and removed. The binding is desintegrating. Pages are brown, broken and 
very brittle, but contain wonderful engravings. The cover is some sort of brown 
animal hide with a finish that is flaking off. The family name is engraved in 
gold on the front of the Bible. 

This Bible was given to me by my uncle, Charles Edwin Mullins, a year or so 
before his death. The Certificate page and Births page appear to be written 
with a quill pen and sepia colored ink.  A separate more modern sheet includes 
the following names and dates written in late cursive handwriting style in 
addition to the above listing:
Jared Irwin McClain was married to Maggie Chappell Adkins, June the 28, 1868, 
Notice the misspelling of McLain (McClain)
