Va.-9-2-1843 Hancock Co Ga Vincent Sanford 17 Apr 1777 Loundoun Co Va-27 May 1859 Greene Co Ga Daniel B 18 Jan 1779 Loundoun Co. Va.-1854 Greene Co. Ga. Mildred Washington 7-12-1781-5-28-1860 Thomas 12-24-1783 Generation #2 Benjamin married 16 Aug. 1805 Greene Co. Ga. Jane Elizabeth “Jennie” Armour who died 21 Oct. 1823 Hancock Co. Ga. She was the child of John Armour & Martha (See Armour family) Benjamin went in business with Jesse Sanford March 1797 in Hancock Co. Ga. Benjamin and Daniel first appear in Greene Co. 1802. They had the largest mercantile business west of Augusta during the 1st quarter of the 19th century. Financial disaster struck. Benjamin died soon after. Several of the listed children are probably from a first wife. There was a Benjamin Sanford in Jefferson Co., who was his contemporary. That one was granted 200 acres in Jefferson in 1819, lived in Emanuel Co., in 1820, Jefferson in 1830 and back to Emanuel in 1840. 1824 Gave 17 Slaves to children Sarah Jane, Mary Mildred and Benjamin Sanford Jr. 1827 Feb sold his 600 acre plantation in Hancock. 1828 May-of Monroe Co. see deed P P A He settled in Island Creek Community, Hancock Co.Ga. GA states Jeremiah and Ada Palmer came to Hancock Co. GA from Loudoun Co VA between 1800 & 1810. They became members of the Island Creek Baptist Church. In "Cemeteries of Green County Georgia" by E H Armor- Jeremiah Sanford is listed as buried in Greensboro City Cemetery/Greenview Cemetery, Section F, Plot K-16, 25' X 40'. He is listed along with several other Sandfords Jeremiah Sanford A soldier of the Revolution, A Friend of Washington, And an honest man/ marked J.S. Other names listed in this plot are: Autrey, Martin, Randle, and Scott. They are likely all family members. Member of the faculty of Mercer Univ. for almost 50 years. Author of arithmetic and algebra books used in Ga. Schools. 1850 Greene Co., Georgia census - #5 , pg. 72 Daniel B. married Elizabeth Totley 1809- He settled nr. Greensboro,Greene.Ga. Mildred Washington married Israel Palmer 6-27-1778 Va-12-31-1864 3rd Generation Benjamin & Jane Had John Armour abt 1804-Tx married Narcissa Rabb b SC 4 children 1838 of Crawford Co. Ga Moved to Smith Co. Tx. Thomas J 1806-Tx Reverand-Methodist- married 1825 Putnam Co Ga Martha Ann J Jackson dtr of Mark & Hollingsberry Sturdivant Moved to Smith Co. Tx. Bushrod Washington 1808-1882 Tx- married 1840 Clarke Co Ga Sara Williams 5 kids Franklin Cory Sheriff 1837-Putnam Co Ga He was named as a nephew by Polly Corry spinster in her will in Putnam Co. Ga. Malinda and her husband John G. Lumsden witnessed that will. Malinda married 1816 Hancock Co Ga John Greer Lumsden Sterling Graham 3 May 1811-18 Oct 1880 Ft. Valley, Peach, Ga married 1833 Upson Co. Ga. Amanda Miriah Jackson 10 Feb 1814-18 Oct- dtr of Warren Jackson & Elizabeth Rosser. Warren is brother of Mark above-and Wilkins-my ancestor. Her Date of death shown 18-2. Died aft 1879. Benjamin probably died in 1838. Mary Mildred abt 1814-Ga.- Sep 1862 Columbus, Muscogee, Ga married 1835 Putnam Co. Ga. John Edmonds Dawson Jr- Rev. 7 Mar 1805-18 Nov 1860 Columbus, Muscogee, Ga There was no issue by this marriage. Sara Jane died 1857 She married 1837 Putnam Co Ga John Alex Lyons and had Jane Bertha.
