Lodowick Tuggle, living in Pittsylvania County, Va., as early as 1782, with 10 polls and 11 slaves in his household, became a member of the Commission of Peace in 1783, and in 1785 was taxed on a substantial farm. On March 6, 1786, Lodowick bought the first of several tracts in Franklin County, Va. The will of Lodowick Tuggle (Sept 23/Oct 20, 1798, Oglethorpe County, Ga., Will book A, Page 80) named his children George, Robert, Thomas, William, Sally, Eunice, Susannah, Catherine, Elizabeth and Nancy. In 1769 Lodowick sold his plantation in Middlesex Co where his family had lived for about 100 years. He moved to Prince Edward Co. VA, and in April of 1776, he moved to Pittsylvania Co VA. While there, he served he served as a high officer in the Revolutionary War. Around 1791, about the time of William JEFFRIES death, and about the time it took to get the news of his death, they moved to Oglethorpe Co Georgia. This was near the area Esther and her family lived. In 1825, Greene, Hancock, Oglethorpe, Warren and Wilkes Counties were all combined to create what is now Taliaferro County, Georgia.
