Appointment of R. W. Copelan as jailor and as deputy sheriff of Greene County 
GA and his oath as such.

Georgia
Greene County  ~ I, E. C. Hixon Sheriff of said County of 
                 Greene, said State do hereby appoint R.W.
Copelan of said County and state as jailor and deputy sheriff of said County, 
to serve as such jailor and deputy sheriff during my term of office unless 
sooner discharged or dismissed from said office in such manner as the law 
provides    this 23rd Dec. 1910    E.C. Hixon Sheriff*

Greene County ~ I do solemnly swear that I will to the
                best of my ability and understanding dis
charge the duties devolving on me as jailor and Deputy Sheriff of said County 
as required by law during the time I continue in said office or of said 
offices one or both of the same   So help me God
Sworn to and Subscribed to before    ~  RW Copelan*
me this the 23rd day of December 1910

Additional Comments:
*Both signatures differ in handwriting from the body of the oath and from each 
other  -- believed to be authentic.
R. W. Copelan is Rowan W. Copelan and was 60 years old at the time of swearing 
in.
