All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beth Collins http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00011.html#0002523 January 3, 2009, 11:57 am Written: August 26, 1824 Recorded: June 1, 1826 Greene County, GA Deed Book JJ, p. 205 Caldwell to Colt This Indenture made and concluded the 26th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twentyfour between Samuel Caldwell of the County of Greene and State of Georgia of the one part and John Colt of same County and State of the other part Witnesseth that the said Samuel Caldwell for and in consideration of four hundred dollars to him in hand paid before signing sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath given granted bargained and released and confirmed unto John Colt his heirs &c all that Tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Greene on the waters of Beaverdam Creek Beginning at pine and runs N70 E 14 chs to a Hickory on the Sparta road thence S 55 E 29 chs on parishes line to a Hickory thence N 75 E 18 to a pine thence S 10 W 11 chs. to a pine thence S 44 W 14 chs. post oak at the Powelton Road thence N 74 W 10 chs along said Road to a Stake thence S 71 W 9 chs to the Sparta Road thence S 20 E 12 chs 50 L along said Road S 30 E 17 ch 50 l. along sd. road to Jacksons line thence S 80 W on sd line 7 chs to a Hickory thence to the beginning containing one hundred and twentysix acres together with all that does or may thereunto appertain or belong and I Samuel Caldwell for myself my heirs &c do warrant & forever defend The aforesaid Tract of land and premises unto John Colt his heirs &c as a clear and indefeasible Estate in fee Simple from the right or lawful claim of any person or persons whatsoever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the day and year above written Signed sealed & delivered in presents of us Samuel Caldwell Jas Stewart John N Harris J. P.
