                              Caldwell To Ashley

Greene County}  this Indenture made this ninth day of April in the year of our 
Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty five between John Caldwell of the 
County of Greene & State of Georgia of the one part and William Ashley of the 
County & State aforesaid of the other part.
     Witnesseth that the said John Caldwell for and in consideration of the 
sum of five hundred and seventy five dollars to him by the said William Ashley 
in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold & 
conveyd and confirmed and by these presents doth bargain sell convey & confirm 
unto the said William Ashley his heirs and assigns a certain tract or parcel 
of land situated lying and being in the County of Greene and State of Georgia 
on the Waters of Shoulderbone Creek adjoining lands of Stephen Wright George 
Barthart and Jesse Pearce bounded northwestwardly by Shoulderbone Creek 
containing one hundred and Forty seven and one half acres be the same more of 
less To have and to hold the above described land and premises together with 
all & singular the rights privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or 
in any wise appertaining unto the said William Ashley his heirs assigns 
Executors & administrators for ever in fee simple and the said John Caldwell 
for himself his heirs Executors and administrators unto the said William 
Ashley his heirs and assigns the legal title to the above described land & 
premises against themselves and against the lawful claim or claims of all 
manner of person or persons whatever will Warrant and for ever defend
         In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal 
the day and date above written

sworn saith on oath that he saw John Caldwell sign the within deed for the

saw John Gabbart do likewise
