Colquett of the Same place, Witness That the said Phillip Gatewood hath This Day made and Alined To the said John T. Colquett his certain Promisary Note Subscribed, with his hand and And Being Even Date with these presents, whereby The said Phillip Gatewood hath promised to pay The said John T. Colquett Nine hundred and Fifty Dollars on or before the Twenty Fifth Of the next December insuring the date Hereof for value Received now for and in Consideration of the sum of Five dollars by The said J. T. Colquett to the said Philip Gatewood in (page 457) hand paid------where of is Hereby acknowledge as will as for the better Securing the payment of the aforesaid Promisary Note that the said Phillip Gatewood hath Granted , Bargained Sold Doth by these Presents Grant Bargain Sell unto The said John T. Colquett Those Negroes, to Wit: Thompson, Charlotte & Child Mary to him and to hold said Acquired Property to the said John T. Colquett to his Own Proper Benefit and Behoof forever and the Said Phillip Gatewood for himself his heirs------- And Administrators this said Bargained Property Unto the said John T. Colquett and Warrant and Defend forever against the Claim of himself His heirs and against the Claim of all other Persons whatever-Provided---- That if the Said Phillip Gatewood his heirs Executors and Administrators and do with and truly pay or Come to be paid unto the said John T. Colquett The afore mentioned sum of Nine hundred, and, Appointed for the payment there of in the said Promisary Note mentioned with lawful interest For the same according to the time of the Said Note. Then and from the Fourth or with This passed Indenture and the right to the Property there by complete as this said Promisary Note shall cease-Determine and Be said to all intent and purpose is Testimony where of the the said Phillip Gatewood Hath here to set his hand and Seal day and Year above Petition Signed and Delivered Phillip Gatewood In Presence of Richard Holt Ann Holt Georgia ] Personally appeared before me John T.
