WINFIELD NOVEMBER, 1868 Georgia Greene County This Indenture made this the thirteenth day of November 1868 between John Dunn of the first part and James W. Winfield of the second part, both of aforesaid County and State. Witnesseth that the said John Dunn for and in consideration of the sum of Five Dollars to him in had paid by the said James W. Winfield as well as for the securing the payment of a certain note hereafter described has granted, bargained and sold, and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said James W. Winfield his heirs and assigns the half interest in a certain Brick Grocery Store in the City of Greensboro in said County and State – said brick store being the one now occupied by said John Dunn. To have and to hold the half interest in the said Grocery Store to the said James W. Winfield his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple. And the said John Dunn will and his heirs and assigns, executors and administrators shall the aforesaid premises to the said James W. Winfield his heirs executors and administrators and assigns forever warrant and defend by these presents. Provided nevertheless that if the said John Dunn his heirs executors or administrators shall pay unto Moore Jenkins &C of New York City their executors administrators or assigns the amount of a certain promissory note made by the said John Dunn and signed by the said James W. Winfield as security pay all to said Moore Jenkins &C, or bearer bearing even rate with these presents, and due Sixty days after date for the sum of Five hundred and fifty dollars, together with all legal interest which may be due upon the same and all expenses which may be incurred by said Winfield in having the same to co_______ Then as well this d_____ as the above described promissory note to be utterly void otherwise to remain of full force and effect. The above described property being now subject to a Mortgage given by said John Dunn to one Lewis B. Willis Guardian dated 23rd of May 1868, to secure a promissory note or its payment for Five hundred dollars – In witness whereof the said John Dunn has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written.
