Witnesseth that the said Radford Ellis & Elizabeth his wife for & in consideration of the sum of eight hundred dollars to them in hand paid by the said Robert Royston at or before the sealing & delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged and themselves fully satisfied hath granted bargained sold delivered released & confirmed & by these presents do grant bargain sell release & confirm unto the said Robert Royston his heir & assigns all that tract or parcel of land containing two hundred eighty seven & a half acres more or less lying & being in the County of Greene & State aforesaid Buting & bounding southwestwardly by the Oconee River including the mouth of Sandy Creek Beginning on the river on a black oak & running N.77 E.44-73 to a dogwood corner thence S.13 E.44-73 to a white oak corner thence S77 W63-63 to a stake adjoining Joshua Browning on the lower side Together with all & singular the rights members & appertenances to the said tract of land being belonging or in any wise appertaining and every part thereof To have & to hold the said tract of land & premises as aforesaid and every part thereof unto the said Robert Royston his heirs & assigns against him the said Radford Ellis his heirs & all persons whatsoever shall & will warrant & defend by these presents. In Witness whereof we the said Radford Ellis & Elizabeth his wife have hereunto interchangeably set our hands & seals the day & date above written. Carleton, Clk GA Archives Dr. 34/Box 14 Greene County Deed Bk 3, pp. 91-92 NOTE: Recorded in Deed Bk GG, p. 329-331 (Dr. 34/Box 17) – Deposition of Abraham Heard, dated 18 Mar 1820, that Robt McAlpin & Thos. Carleton, whose names were subscribed to Radford & Elizabeth Ellis’ deed to Robt Royston 29 Apr 1799, are both deceased. Also, Deposition of John H. Lowe of Clarke County, dated 19 Feb 1820, that David Sharpton whose name, was subscribed to the same deed, is also deceased. A copy of the deed was annexed and precedes the depositions.
