All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Beth Collins http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00011.html#0002523 October 24, 2008, 1:48 am Dist. 141 Written: November 6, 1832 Recorded: October 8, 1833 Greene County, GA Deed Book LL, p. 272 Sheriff Strain to Caldwell Georgia} Whereas in obedience to a writ of two Fieri Facias & ___ out of the 141st district court of the County of Greene at the suit of William W & Weaver against Stephen Gatlin William L Strain sheriff of the county aforesaid do lately seize the tract of Land hereinafter described as the property of the said Stephen Gatlin and after being duly & publicly advertised agreeable to law did on the sixth day of November in the year Eighteen hundred & thirty two at the place of public sales in the said County of Greene expose the same at public outcry when William Caldwell being the highest bidder the same was knocked of to him at the price or sum of Twenty five dollars Now This Indenture made the sixth day of November in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and thirty two and in the Fifty sixth year of the Independence of the United States of America between the said William L Strain Sheriff as aforesaid of the one part and the said William Caldwell of the other part Witness that the said William L Strain Sheriff as aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of Seventy five dollars to him in hand paid by the said William Caldwell at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained & sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell so far as the office of sheriff authorizes him unto the said William Caldwell his heirs & assigns all that tract or parcel of Land lying & situate in the county of Greene on the waters of Beaverdam Creek adjoining Jones Oliver & others containing Eighty five Acres more or less together with all and singular the rights members & appurtenances thereof unto the said William Caldwell Land being belonging or in any wise appertaining and also all the estate right title interest property claim & demand of the said Stephen Gatlin in law Equity or otherwise whatsoever of in or to the same to have and to hold the said tract of Land & premises and every part thereof unto the said William Caldwell his heirs & assigns to the only proper use benefit & behoof of the said William Caldwell his heirs & assigns forever in fee simple in as full & ample a manner as the said Stephen Gatlin or his heirs and Assigns did or might have held & enjoyed the same had it not been seized & sold under the Execution aforesaid In Witness whereof the said William L Strain hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year first above written Signed sealed & delivered in the presence of Jas F Foster John Chew J.
