TUGGLE TO WILEY G. JOHNSON October, 1864 Georgia Greene County This Indenture made this the 24th day of October A.D. 1864, between Pinckney J. Tuggle of the one part and Wiley G. Johnson of the other part, both of the County and State aforesaid. Witnesseth that the said Pinckney J. Tuggle for and in consideration of the sum of Twenty five Thousand Dollars to him in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath bargained, sold and delivered & doth by these presents bargain, sell and deliver to the said Wiley G. Johnson his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the Counties of Greene and Oglethorpe, on the waters of Little River, adjoining lands of Wm. McWhorter, John Watson, John Armstrong, Dr. Griffin and others containing Four hundred & forty seven acres (447 acres) Beginning at a Red Oak on the ____ above the Mill and running North 77° E. 4 ch. 20 l. to a Persimmon, thence South 70° E. 5 ch. 50 l. to an Alder on ck. Branch, thence South 35° E. 6 ch. 50 to a Sickamore corner near the Mill, thence South 6°W. 3 ch. 40 l. to a Black Gum at the mouth(?) of the Saw Mill Race thence North 36 W. 4 ch. up the meanderings of the River to a Water Oak thence South 36 W. 8 ch. to a Stake, thence South 10° W. 10 ch. 50 l. to a Stake thence South 6° W. 5 ch. 25 l. to an old field Pine Corner, thence North 86° West 22 ch. 80 l. to a Red Oak in the mill Road, thence South 20° W. 4 chains to a Dogwood, known as the Ned Parks’ Corner, thence South 6° W. 11 ch. 50 l. to a Post Oak, thence South down Dr. Griffins line to the Creek known as Dry Fork to a Stake on the bank of the Creek, thence up the meanderings of said Creek to the mouth of the Branch thence up the meanderings of said Branch about 18 ch. to a Stake Corner, thence North 15° W. 22 ch. 40 l. to the Big Road, thence West 9 ch. 40 l. up the Road to a Stake Corner, thence along said Road South 25° W 32 ch. to a Stake thence South 42° W. 7 ch. 10 l. to a Stake, thence North 58° W. 15 ch. 90 l. to a Red Oak Corner, then North 6° East 30 ch. to a Post Oak thence South 20 l. to a Sweet Gum, thence North 23 E. 24 ch. to a Walnut Corner on J. Watson’s line thence with said Watson’s line South 64° E. 22 chains to a Stake, thence North 40° E. 16 ch. to the River, thence down the meanderings of the River to the beginning corner, (except Six Acres reserved for John Armstrong adjoining his field.) all of which will more fully appear by reference to a Plat recorded in the Clerk’s office with this Deed. Together with all and singular the rights members and appurtenances to the said tract of land & mills in any wise belonging or appertaining to him the said Wiley G. Johnson in fee simple. And I the said Pinckney J. Tuggle for myself, my heirs and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right and title to the said bargained premises to him the said Wiley G. Johnson his heirs and assigns free & clear from the claim of myself my heirs and assigns & from any other person whatsoever.
